I’m finding more and more the need to write and today isn’t any different. I had a wonderful time this weekend visiting Quimixto south of Puerto Vallarta.
Boca de Tomatlan to Quimixto
I’m writing this because I want to keep a reminder not only for myself but for others who have curiosity in exploring. Initially when I came here, I had a blast doing the different excursions, but found myself wanting more because I never felt like I actually visited the beach. You were being shuffled from place to place like sheep. I prefer this way. It is slightly more adventurous, but still extremely easy. You are able to stay at the beach as long as you want, exploring the different waterfalls or hiking through the woods.
If you are in Puerto Vallarta you can take a 40-50 minute uber ride to Boca de Tomatlan. There is also a bus from Zona Romantica that runs every 20-30 minutes or so. The bus will be a little longer. About 20 minutes extra time due to stops.

“To go from the Romantic Zone to Boca de Tomatlán by bus, take the green “Mismaloya/Boca” bus at the corner of Basilio Badillo and Constitución streets (in front of the OXXO store)”
If you are unsure, all you need to ask is “Boca de Tomatlan?” and they’ll say “si” or “no.”
An Uber to Boca de Tomatlan is approximately 250-350 pesos The bus ride to Boca De Tomatlan will cost you 11 pesos.
Once you are in Boca de Tomatlan, you can ask literally anyone by the pier for a ride (though they’ll likely be asking you if you want a lift beforehand). It should cost you roughly 100-200 pesos. The ride from the pier to Quimixto will take you roughly 20 minutes. You’ll pass by some great beaches along the way You can also hike from Boca de Tomatlan to Las Animas
